The Precellys Evolution has been set up in a BSL-4 research laboratory for the recovery of viable single cell suspensions from non-human primate samples.
The Precellys equipment, initially developed for meeting BSL-3 lab requirements, has been installed in Leidos Biomedical Research laboratory, one of four BSL-4 laboratories operational in the US, for the AIDS and Cancer Virus program.
The initial sample preparation method involved manual processing and each protocol lasted for six to six hours to obtain around 50% of viable cells.
With the Precellys Evolution, sample processing times have been reduced of two hours with a percentage of viable cells up to 70%. The robustness of the Precellys and the automatic safety alarms are perfect assets for BSL-4 setting.
